Welcome!
Relational Activity
Campmeeting is a family event. Every summer hundreds gather on the grounds of West Milton Christian Center for fun, food, fellowship, and focused worship.
The opportunities for relational activity are both structured and informal. Prayer cells, Family Fun Day, softball, volleyball, campfires, or simply hanging out together in front of cabins, solving all the world’s problems.
Pre-camp Challenge
Campmeeting exists for the primary purpose of spiritual growth and development. It’s time set aside each year where we intentionally attempt to listen and hear the Creator of the universe speak to us.
That does not happen automatically or accidentally. Just like the soil needs to be prepared for seeds to be planted, our hearts require softening and openness to the Holy Spirit. This cultivation occurs in prayer; prayer is communication, communion, and relationship with God.
Here’s a pre-camp challenge. Sincerely pray this prayer: “Father, break down my resistance to your mysterious and powerful work in my life. Prepare my heart for what you desire to do in me at Campmeeting ‘11.”
Mission Field
It is my understanding—from the late John Byers—that the land given for what became West Milton Christian Center, was originally designated as a place for young people to find Christ and be equipped to live for him.
That emphasis remains alive and well. Every year a swarming hive of teens and twenty-somethings make camp a place that is bustling, active, and spiritually vital.
Statistics reveal that a huge percentage of decisions made for Christ or for missionary service are made by young people in a camp setting. The impact on young lives for eternity cannot be measured by or reduced to dollars and cents.
Presented those facts, we adults ought to willingly and with tremendous joy invest our lives and finances in an easily accessible captive audience.
The vision: For mature Christians to comprehend that Campmeeting is a fertile mission field where we can reach and raise up the next generation for Christ and Kingdom service.
